Weekly Reflection - 7 Jan.- 14 Jan.

I started off this week with the last stanza of 'Newton's Law'. I summed up the previous stanzas and  dealt with the last. After completing the poem, I made the students recite the poem in order to help them improve their pronunciation and reading ability. A language activity was dealt on the next day. The students were taught the use of correlative conjunctions. A chart was used to display the sentences containing correlative conjunctions. Then 'Affixes' were taught to them based on the Concept Attainment Model. Power point presentation was prepared for the class. A total of three sets of examples were given to enrich the understandability of the students. The attainment of the model was tested in its Phase-II. Through another set of examples students were asked to locate suffix and prefix from it. In the third and final phase, the students were asked to explain how they arrived at  the concept. I was able to handle the class using this model in a satisfactory manner. On the thirtieth day, I dealt with another grammar topic. The topic was 'the use of subordinating conjunctions'. Charts and power point presentations aided a lot in teaching this grammar portion.
The second phase of the school internship programme was thus successfully completed by me. The experience and lessons that I learned from this internship will definitely strengthen me in the process of becoming an effective teacher.
