Weekly Reflection 26 Nov. - 29 Nov.

On this week, the third lesson of the Fourth unit, 'The last Leaf' by O. Henry was taught. This beautifully inspirational tale deals with unselfish sacrifice - how one man was prepared to sacrifice his own well-being and use his talent to save the life of another. This story was really helpful in inculcating the qualities of 'hope', 'companionship', 'sacrifice' and 'empathy' in the students. I dealt with four lesson plans this week. The required teaching- learning resources were prepared for the topic.

Weekly Reflection 07 Nov. - 16 Nov.

As part  of the B.Ed curriculum, we, the second year students were sent to different schools to be engaged in the second phase of our internship programme. We were assigned to practice at Govt. H.S.S., Koickal. There were fifteen of us from our college in which four of us were from English optional.
7 November, 2018 was the day of commencement of the second phase of school internship programme. On the first day we met the Head mistress. She gave us necessary instructions and a separate staff room was allotted to us.
I was assigned to take classes in standard IX B, the same class allotted to me during the first phase. That day I started the class by introducing the IV th unit ( Dawn of Hope) of their course book. From the next day onwards I began the chapter 'The Jungle Air Crash' by Juliane Koepcke. On Children's day, the classes were handled by students themselves.
Azif Anver, a student of IX B handled the  English class on 14 November.

By the end of the second week, I completed 15 th paragraph of 'The Jungle Air Crash'. Sufficient teaching- learning resources such as charts, pictures, flash cards, video clips, power point presentation slides, activity cards etc. were used for enhancing the understandability of the learners.

Innovative Work Report

A work of innovation was done by me as part of the B.Ed curriculum. I attempted to picturize the poem ' The Village Blacksmith' which is included in the coursebook of standard VIII. I began the work by providing a brief introduction about the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow along with his picture. Then I wrote the poetic lines on the left side of the page the detailed explanation of the lines was given on the right side. Sufficient pictures were pasted for enhancing visual beauty. It is said that "a picture is worth a thousand words".Visual aids encourage students' learning  process and make it easier and interesting. Therefore I believe that this work will help the students to understand the poem 'The Village Blacksmith' with much ease. I have also introduced a few terms that are related to the blacksmith and his work. Pictures were also added. A crossword puzzle was included at the end of the work for making the work interesting.
